CAL-CHINGCALORIE TRACKER

Privacy Policy

Clear information about how CAL-CHING handles your information.

Last updated: October 29, 2026

This Privacy Policy describes how Triple J Apps Ltd. ("we," "us," or "our") handles information in the CAL-CHING Calorie Tracker iOS application (the "App"). The App helps you monitor food intake, physical activity, and estimated daily energy balance.

1. Information you enter

You may provide age, sex used for energy calculations, height, weight, goals, foods and meals, favorite restaurants and foods, and exercise entries. These details are used to produce personalized calculations and to display your records. In the current version, these records and preferences are primarily stored locally on your device.

2. Apple Health

If you grant permission, the App reads Active Energy information from Apple Health to estimate activity-related calorie expenditure. Access is optional and controlled through iOS Health permissions. The App does not write health records to Apple Health in this version. Our current App implementation processes this Apple Health energy information on your device and does not intentionally transmit the underlying HealthKit records to our food-search service.

3. Food and restaurant searches

When you use online food search, search terms and an optional restaurant name are sent over HTTPS to our Firebase-hosted search service. The service may query the FatSecret nutrition data service to return food and calorie information. Online requests may produce standard technical or security logs, including IP addresses, timestamps, and request diagnostics. Do not include sensitive personal information in food search text.

4. App identifiers and service operation

Online food search uses Firebase Authentication to create an anonymous app-specific identifier. This identifier and associated authentication credentials allow the search service to authorize requests, protect access, and enforce usage limits. Credentials may be stored securely using the iOS Keychain. An anonymous identifier is not the same as providing your name or email address, but it can still identify an app installation or account and is treated as personal data where applicable.

We may process limited usage and technical interaction information necessary to operate, secure, and troubleshoot the service. We do not use these identifiers to track you across other companies' apps or websites for advertising in the described implementation.

5. Voice input

If you choose voice input, the App asks for microphone and speech-recognition permission. Speech recognition uses Apple's iOS speech-recognition services, which may process audio on the device or through Apple's services depending on device and system support. Recognized food text may be used in an online food search if you choose that feature.

6. Purchases and subscriptions

If paid subscriptions are offered, purchases and billing are handled by Apple through the App Store. We do not collect your full payment-card details. Apple may provide purchase or subscription status needed to enable paid features, subject to Apple's policies.

7. How we use and share information

We use information to calculate calorie balances, provide food search, maintain app functionality, prevent misuse, and respond to support requests. Depending on the feature, information may be processed by service providers including Google Firebase, FatSecret, and Apple. Each provider's handling of information is also governed by its applicable privacy terms. We may disclose information if required by law or to protect the security of our services.

8. Retention, controls, and security

You can manage many records directly within the App, revoke Apple Health, microphone, or speech permissions in iOS Settings, and remove locally stored App data by deleting the App, subject to any device backups. Limited account identifiers or server logs may be retained for legitimate operational or security purposes. To ask about data access or deletion relating to our online service, please contact us using the details below.

We use reasonable safeguards appropriate to the services involved, including HTTPS for online searches. No electronic storage or transmission system is guaranteed to be completely secure.

9. Children's privacy

CAL-CHING is a general health-and-fitness utility and is not specifically designed for children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information to our service, contact us so we can review the request.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as features or data practices change. The effective version will be posted at this address with an updated date. We will make additional disclosures or obtain consent where required.
